An Eco Citizen Company Daily involved in Ocean Conservation

Moorea Dolphin Center has been committed to the support and development of ocean environment projects of research, conservation, and education in French Polynesia since its beginning in 2005. More than 20 million cfp (250,000 USD/ 170,000 euros) is dedicated each year to environmental causes.

Free educational programs approved by the Ministry of Education are provided to more than 26,000 students. These programs are based on school subjects about sea animals, coral reefs, sea turtles, pollution, global warming and eco citizen behavior.


Bringing awareness of the world’s ocean network functions and delivering an “Ocean Passport” are part of the goals. www.reseauoceanmondial.com

The Moorea Dolphin Center provides financial support for the following programs:
Dr. Chris Marshall (University of Texas) – Study on dolphin life expectancy in Texas.
Aude Pacini (University of Hawaii) – Study on common bottlenose dolphin hearing capacities.
Dr. Cecile Gaspar (EPHE and University of French Polynesia) – Study of common stingrays in Polynesia.
Yann Panheleux (EPHE Criobe) – Study on common bottlenose dolphin memorization.

Moorea Dolphin Center also supports “Te Mana O Te Moana” (“Ocean Spirit”). This association, established in 2004, is state approved and is officially recognized by the French environmental code. It has been a member of IUCN (International Union of Conservation of Nature) since 2008. Te Mana O Te Moana develops educational, conservation, and research projects on sea ecosystems and has become an authority in French Polynesia. www.temanaotemoana.org

Green Globe is an international program of evaluation and certification for long term tourism. Moorea Dolphin Center, a private company, has been one of the first Polynesian organizations to initiate Green Globe Certification.
